Jilin International Studies University Undergraduate International Students Admissions (2026)

Jilin International Studies University (JISU) is a key provincial university in China’s northeastern Jilin Province. Founded in 1995, we have achieved remarkable accomplishments over 30 years with support from China’s Ministry of Education (MOE), Jilin Provincial Committee of CPC, Jilin Provincial Government and all sectors of society. JISU is the first privately-funded non-profit higher education institution in China, the only pilot unit for the national education system reform project “Exploring Non-Profit Private University Models”, the first private university authorized to grant master’s degrees, the only private university included in the National Midwestern Universities Basic Capacity Building Project, and the only private institution upgraded to university status. JISU has been listed in Jilin Provincial High-Level Applied Universities (Category A) and approved as a Doctoral Degree Granting Unit (Class A+). It has ranked first for six consecutive years (2020-2025) in the ShanghaiRanking’s Ranking of Chinese Private Universities.

I. Programs Offered

JISU offers 47 undergraduate programs for international students. For specific categories and programs, please refer to the attached 2026 International Student Undergraduate Program Directory.

II. Application Requirements

1. Applicants must comply with Chinese laws and regulations as well as university policies, respect Chinese customs and traditions, and demonstrate good moral character. Applicants should have no criminal record, be in good health, and be capable of completing their studies in China.

2. Applicants shall be non-Chinese citizens holding valid ordinary foreign passports, aged between 18 and 40 (born after August 31, 1986). Applicants who are still under 18 years old as of September 1, 2026, must have a legal guardian in China.

3. If both or one of the applicant’s parents is a Chinese citizen who has settled abroad, and the applicant was born with foreign nationality, they must hold a valid foreign passport or nationality certificate for at least four years (by June 30, 2026) and have resided abroad for a minimum of two years within the past four years (June 30, 2022–June 30, 2026). Residence of at least nine months in a year counts as one full year, based on entry and exit stamps. Applicants from mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao, or Taiwan who obtained foreign citizenship must also meet the above requirements.

4. Applicants must possess an educational background equivalent to Chinese high school graduation or above.

IV. Application Process

1. Online Application: Log into the JISU International Student Online Service System for Application (https://jisu.at0086.cn/student), register an account, select the undergraduate program, fill in the application information, and upload electronic copies of the application documents as required in Part V.

2. Payment of Registration Fee: The Registration Fee is 400 RMB. It must be remitted after submitting the online application information (see the attached Basic Information of Jilin International Studies University’s Bank Account for details). The fee is non-refundable once paid. Applications without the Registration Fee paid will not be accepted.

V. Application Documents

1. Original Application Form for Undergraduate International Students of the Jilin International Studies University. Please log into the JISU International Student Online Service System for application, then download and print.

2. Notarized (certified) original of the applicant's full-time high school graduation certificate. Graduated applicants shall provide notarized(certified) original. New high school graduates may provide an original pre-graduation certificate first. If admitted, the applicants shall submit the original high school graduation certificate or its notarized (certified) original to JISU’s Overseas Students Affair Office for verification during registration. Failure to provide this will disqualify the applicant for admission.

3. Notarized (Certified) original of the applicant’s high school year-by-year transcripts.

4. Reports for China Scholastic Competency Assessment (CSCA) within the validity period. The required CSCA test subjects for all majors are Professional Chinese and Mathematics.

5. Copy of the Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi (HSK) score report. The test date of the HSK score report shall be after November 1, 2023. Applicants for the Chinese Language or Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages majors must submit an HSK Level 4 score report with a minimum score of 210.

6. Letter of Recommendation. Letter of recommendation from a high school teacher, class teacher, or school official. There is no fixed format, but it must include the recommender's original handwritten signature.

7. Study Plan. Written in Chinese or English, approximately 1000 words.

8. Copy of the personal information page of the applicant's passport. The validity period of the passport must be June 30, 2027, or later.

9. Non-criminal Record Report.

10. Applicants who meet the criteria in Section II, Item 3 of the application conditions must provide the following documents:

(1) Copies of passport pages with entry-exit signatures for at least 4 years (from June 30, 2022, to June 30, 2026)(Please sort them chronologically, scan, and merge them into a single PDF for upload. Originals must be available for verification if requested.

(2) Applicants who were former Chinese citizens and subsequently have obtained a foreign nationality must additionally provide proof of cancellation of their original Chinese household registration certificate and proof of withdrawal from Chinese nationality.

11. Original Notarized Guardianship Certificate for Minors. Applicants who will still be under 18 years old by September 1, 2026, must submit this document, notarized by a local notary office.

12. Copies of other supplementary supporting documents, such as award certificates, standardized test scores, and certificates. Please scan and merge them into a single PDF for upload.

13. General Requirements for All Application Documents:

*All application documents must be written in Chinese or English. Documents in other languages must be submitted with an original notarized by translation.

*JISU may request additional supplementary documents from applicants based on specific circumstances.

*Applications with incomplete documents or unpaid Registration Fee will not be accepted.

*Applicants must ensure all application information and documents provided are true and accurate. If any information or document is found to be fraudulent, the applicant will not be admitted and any offer of admission will be cancelled. If the discrepancy is discovered after enrollment, we shall cancel the student's admission or status.

VI. Admission Examination

The entrance examination consists of two parts: a written test and an interview.

1. Written Test:

Applicants must take the CSC Academic Test (CSCA) for undergraduate admission to China, organized by the China Scholarship Council (CSC). Specific test arrangements can be found on the CSCA website: www.csca.cn. The required CSCA subjects for all applied majors are Professional Chinese and Mathematics.

Please submit the score report to JISU’s application system by June 30, 2026.

2. Interview:

The applicants are required to participate in an interview organized by JISU for the major they have applied for.

The specific examination arrangements will be notified through the Jilin International Studies University Online Service System for Application and email. Please check the emails filled in the application system of JISU.

VII. Admission

Starting from June 2026, JISU will notify applicants of the admission results through the application system and email. Admitted students must report for registration on time in accordance with the requirements of the admission notice and other enrollment materials. The students admitted to JISU are not allowed to have dual or multiple statuses.

VIII. Program Duration, Study Mode and Tuition Fees

The undergraduate program has a duration of four years, with a full-time study mode and Chinese as the medium of instruction (Digital Marketing and Digital Finance programs are offered in English ).

Tuition fees: 18,000 yuan per academic year

Accommodation fees: 7,200 yuan per academic year

IX. Scholarships

To encourage and support outstanding international students to pursue degrees in China, JISU provides the following scholarships:

For information on applying for the International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship, please visit the website https://cis.chinese.cn or consult the local Confucius Institute or Confucius Classroom and other recommended institutions.

For information on applying for the Jilin International Studies University International Student Scholarship, please inquire by email(international@jisu.edu.cn).

For the scholarship evaluation results, please check the email notification from JISU or the scholarship-funding institution.

X. Accommodation and Visa

(1) On-campus Accommodation

JISU offers double rooms in its international student apartment building.

Upon receiving the electronic admission letter, applicants are not required to reserve accommodation as it will be arranged by the university.

(2) Visa

Admitted students should apply for an X1 visa to come to China at the Chinese embassy or consulate in their home country with the printed electronic Admission Notice and Confirmation Form for Study in China (JW201/202). For visa-related information, please inquire by email to JISU's International Student Office at international@jisu.edu.cn.
