Jilin International Studies University Chinese Government Scholarship Admissions (2026)

Jilin International Studies University (JISU) is a key provincial university in China’s northeastern Jilin Province. Founded in 1995, we have achieved remarkable accomplishments over 30 years with support from China’s Ministry of Education (MOE), Jilin Provincial Committee of CPC, Jilin Provincial Government and all sectors of society. JISU is the first privately-funded non-profit higher education institution in China, the only pilot unit for the national education system reform project “Exploring Non-Profit Private University Models”, the first private university authorized to grant master’s degrees, the only private university included in the National Midwestern Universities Basic Capacity Building Project, and the only private institution upgraded to university status. JISU has been listed in Jilin Provincial High-Level Applied Universities (Category A) and approved as a Doctoral Degree Granting Unit (Class A+). It has ranked first for six consecutive years (2020-2025) in the ShanghaiRanking’s Ranking of Chinese Private Universities.

I. Applicant Eligibility

1. Non-Chinese citizens.

2. Physically and mentally healthy, with excellent academic performance and moral character, and abiding by Chinese laws, regulations, as well as the university’s rules and discipline.

3. Not receiving any other scholarships funded by Chinese governments at all levels or institutions simultaneously.

4. Academic and age requirements:

Master’s programs: Hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent academic qualification, with outstanding academic results, and be under 35 years of age;

5. Language Requirements

a. Programs taught in Chinese (meet any of the following conditions):

HSK Level 5 with a score of 180 or above;

Applicants who obtained a degree from a Chinese university where Chinese was the medium of instruction are exempt from providing HSK certification.

b. Programs taught in English (meet any of the following conditions):

TOEFL score of 80 or above, or IELTS score of 6.0 or above;

Native speakers of English or citizens of countries where English is an official language;

Applicants who obtained a degree where English was the medium of instruction.

III. Scholarship Coverage

Exemption from tuition fees and on-campus accommodation fees.

Provision of a monthly living allowance during the study period in China: 3,000 RMB per month for master’s students.

Provision of comprehensive medical insurance for international students in China.

V. Application Process

Step 1: Apply via the Chinese Government Scholarship Online Application System

Log in to the Chinese Government Scholarship Online Application System (http://www.campuschina.org) to register an account. Select Program Type B, choose the Host Institution Code 10964 (Jilin International Studies University), fill in the required information, submit the application, and download the Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship.

Step 2: Apply via the Jilin International Studies University Website

Log in to https://jisu.at0086.cn/student, fill in and submit the application. Note that once the application materials are submitted, applicants will not be able to modify the information.

Step 3: Review and Interview

JISU will review applicants’ academic background, language proficiency, and professional competence, and arrange video interviews for shortlisted candidates. Notifications will be sent via email.

Step 4: Preliminary Review and Recommendation List Confirmation

JISU will complete the preliminary review by mid-March 2026, confirm the candidate list, and send the pre-admission notice via email.

Step 5: Upload Pre-admission and Supplementary Materials

Candidates who obtain the recommendation qualification must re-log in to the Chinese Government Scholarship Online Application System (http://www.campuschina.org) to upload the pre-admission notice and supplementary materials within the time specified in the email notification. Those who fail to complete the upload on time will have their qualifications cancelled.

Step 6: Comprehensive Review and Admission

The China Scholarship Council (CSC) will organize experts to conduct a comprehensive review of candidates’ academic performance, overall quality, development potential, etc., in accordance with the principle of “individual application, institutional recommendation, expert review, and merit-based admission”, and select candidates for admission based on merit.

VI. Application Materials

1. Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship: Fill out online in Chinese or English.

2. Copy of passport bio page and Chinese visa page (if applicable): The passport validity period must be later than September 2027. All Chinese visa pages (if any) must be uploaded.

3.Notarized academic certificates (from undergraduate level onwards): Applicants currently in school must submit a Expected Graduation Certificate issued by their current institution. Applicants must obtain their degree before September 2026. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be accompanied by a notarized Chinese or English translation.

4. Academic transcripts (from undergraduate level onwards): Scanned transcripts must include all grades obtained during undergraduate studies. Transcripts must be issued and sealed by the Academic Affairs Office, Graduate School, or relevant student administration department of the applicant’s institution. Transcripts in other languages must be accompanied by a notarized Chinese or English translation.

5. Proof of language proficiency:

a. For programs taught in Chinese: Provide a valid HSK Level 5 certificate; applicants who obtained a degree from a Chinese university with Chinese as the medium of instruction must submit relevant proof.

b. For programs taught in English: Provide a TOEFL score of 80 or above, an IELTS score of 6.0 or above, or proof of a degree earned with English as the medium of instruction.

VII. Admission and Registration

JISU will notify applicants of the final admission results via email by July 2026, and send the Admission Notice and Confirmation Form for Foreign Students Coming to China (Form JW201).

Scholarship recipients are required to register for admission at the end of August or early September 2026, and must complete the enrollment procedures strictly in accordance with the time specified in the Admission Notice. Those who are unable to register on time due to special reasons must obtain prior approval from JISU; otherwise, their admission will be deemed as automatically abandoned, and their scholarship qualification will not be retained.

VIII. Notes

Applicants must submit applications directly to Jilin International Studies University, and shall not submit application materials through intermediary agencies. Any application submitted through intermediaries will result in the cancellation of the scholarship application qualification.

If necessary, we will contact applicants via email (international@jisu.edu.cn) to request supplementary materials or inform them of admission results. Please ensure that an accurate email address is provided.

Scholarship recipients shall not receive both the Chinese Government Scholarship and other scholarships established by Chinese governments at all levels or institutions (excluding one-time bonuses) simultaneously. If such a case is found, their Chinese Government Scholarship qualification will be cancelled, and they must return the scholarship funds already received. Those who intentionally conceal their scholarship status will be prohibited from applying for the Chinese Government Scholarship for three years in addition to having their qualification cancelled.

Scholarship recipients who fail to register at JISU within the admission period will not have their scholarship qualification retained. And they shall not bring family members into China without prior approval from JISU.

Scholarship recipients must submit all application materials upon registration. Applicants are responsible for the authenticity of the information and materials they provide. If any discrepancy with the facts is found, Jilin International Studies University reserves the right to cancel their admission qualification; for those already enrolled, their student status will be revoked.

Scholarship recipients must participate in the annual review in accordance with regulations. Those who fail the review will have their scholarship qualification suspended or cancelled.

Scholarship recipients shall not change their major or study duration in principle.
